This painting was inspired by two main colors that began an entire concept for the work. Peonies in their most natural color have the most beautiful tones of pinks in them, and that is the one thing I had in mind when I started putting this artwork together. Unlike most of my pieces, I began this one with only a few images of peonies in front of me, and the color palette where hues of bright pinks would take the lead. I put it together bit by bit, adding on day by day as I went further down the painting process, and let the joy I felt from the flowers guide me towards a completed piece.
This is creative expression in its purest form – without a set concept in mind, just colors to guide my hand, I let the abstraction flow freely through me and onto the canvas, which ended up being one of my absolute favourites, purely flow-driven abstract paintings I have ever created. I want the viewer to feel an emotional pull towards the striking floral color palette and feel through it the serenity we feel when we are around nature.
