The title translates from French to ?Garden of Fairies?, which is the exact vision I had for this piece – A fantasy floral garden with dreamy roses and peonies as the main focal subjects of the artwork, engulfed in magical little abstract ?oral details. The Gold Leaf plays the perfect part in achieving my vision even more so. The inspiration for this piece came from a reference of a ?oral garden just at the brink of Spring.
This piece is especially magical for me, as it’s one of the first pieces where I shared the journey of creating art with my daughter Lyla, who has just turned 3. She has in recent months shown so much interest in watching me work, and seemed eager to participate – so for the first time, I allowed her to make a few marks in small sections on the canvas before I painted the main flowers. Sharing this part of my art practice with her has been a beautiful experience, and now this piece holds a very special place in my heart. You will not only be bringing my art into your home, but you will also be bringing with it a piece of the artist’s daughter.
