Nassim Nasr’s style is a blend of vibrant color palettes, emotional expression, and restrained simplicity.
Throughout Nasr’s artistic journey, they have always been drawn to the intersections where styles merge, revealing new dimensions of expression. This exploration led Nasr to forge a style termed “Expressive Color Minimalism,” a synthesis of Abstract Expressionism, Color Field, and Minimalism. It’s Nasr’s unique response to the age-old quest of conveying depth with simplicity.
For Nasr, Expressive Color Minimalism is a process of distillation. They channel the emotional potency of Abstract Expressionism, allowing each brush stroke, form, and composition to resonate with unspoken narratives. Color in Nasr’s work is more than a visual element; it’s a narrative unto itself, imbued with emotion and depth, echoing the sentiments of Color Field painting. Yet, despite their inspiration from the vibrancy of color and emotion, Nasr is equally committed to the principles of Minimalism. Every element on their canvas has intention; there’s a conscious restraint, ensuring that each hue and stroke serves a deliberate purpose.
In their work, Nasr aims to create a balance between vibrancy and void, between the effusiveness of color and the calm of empty space. It’s a dialogue, a dance, a journey that invites viewers to explore their own emotional landscapes while appreciating the nuanced simplicity Nassim Nasr strives to present. To Nasr, Expressive Color Minimalism is more than just a style?it’s a reflection of their philosophy and vision, a fresh lens through which they interpret the world around them. And with every piece, Nasr hopes to share a part of this vision, offering new perspectives and evoking deep, often unspoken, emotions.

Tropical Breeze

AED 240AED 750

This was something I created with a lot of joy ?owing through me at the time. The inspiration was simply a color palette of tropical hues, put together in a very abstract piece that beamed with rays of sunshine and ?holiday vibes?.
I had recently returned from a trip to Bali when I had the vision for this painting. What I felt being there, I brought it to life on canvas. The serenity of blue, turquoise waters, combined with the playful hues of oranges, pinks and yellows seen all around the little islands in restaurants, through the streets, in tourists? sundresses and the endless variety of fruits that felt sweeter than summer love. That was everything I hoped to bring into this painting, with an easy ?ow of vivid colors that the viewer can resonate with on many levels, and a ?nal piece that brings an atmosphere of joy into any room.

Venus Garden

AED 240AED 750

This painting was inspired by two main colors that began an entire concept for the work. Peonies in their most natural color have the most beautiful tones of pinks in them, and that is the one thing I had in mind when I started putting this artwork together. Unlike most of my pieces, I began this one with only a few images of peonies in front of me, and the color palette where hues of bright pinks would take the lead. I put it together bit by bit, adding on day by day as I went further down the painting process, and let the joy I felt from the flowers guide me towards a completed piece.

This is creative expression in its purest form – without a set concept in mind, just colors to guide my hand, I let the abstraction flow freely through me and onto the canvas, which ended up being one of my absolute favourites, purely flow-driven abstract paintings I have ever created. I want the viewer to feel an emotional pull towards the striking floral color palette and feel through it the serenity we feel when we are around nature.

A Space In Time I

Surrealism aims to revolutionise human experience. It balances a rational vision of life with one that asserts the power of the unconscious and dreams. The movement?s artists find magic and strange beauty in the unexpected and the uncanny, the disregarded and the unconventional. At the core of their work is the willingness to challenge imposed values and norms, and a search for freedom of expression. Here, our artists look at the Beduin past of this region in a truly unique way.

When Diamonds Are Legend

AED 330AED 750

The “Girl with a Pearl Earring” is one of the most famous oil paintings ever, created by Johannes Vermeer in 1665. Since 1902 the original masterpiece is held in Belgium. This artwork has been used as central to many different creations by many different artists over time, to say many different things.

Serguey has created something truly unique – using magazine and newspaper cuttings of famous moments in time where diamonds and pearls dominated the news and movie screens (good and bad!), then single-handedly painted multiple portraits in oil – the famous “Girl”, plus portraits on the dollar bills. Meticulous detail, a true work of art that took a long time to complete.
